Today’s Photo of the Day is of David Chaffey, BHT’s new Director of Housing and Property Services. David started with BHT last week but as I was still off on annual leave, today is the first day I have been working with him.
I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of David’s experience and expertise. I have known David for over a decade and know he is a class act. I am really looking forward to working with him in the years to come.
David has worked in housing for thirty years in both local authorities and housing associations predominantly in housing management, lettings, repairs and more latterly leading on resident involvement. In his mot recent role he was head of tenant engagement for a large, national housing association. His approach to tenant involvement is core to the ethos of BHT.
He served for fifteen years from its inception as a Board member of one of BHT’s partner organisations, Sussex Oakleaf, who specialise in mental health provision.
David has said of his new role: “I am delighted to be joining BHT at this time. I have worked with BHT in different capacities for over ten years, so I am very familiar with its housing provision and culture.
“I live in Hove so I know the area and its challenges very well. I am keen to become as familiar with Eastbourne and Hastings where BHT provides housing and other services.
“My biggest and immediate challenge is to set in place a new asset management strategy so that our homes remain well maintained and safe.”
