Press announcements and press releases can be so boring. I should know, I write enough of them! But here is a fantastically original and funny one (not written by anyone at BHT) about a Valentine’s Ball which will be raising funds for First Base Day Centre. I thought it was so good I have reproduced it in full:
English Disco Lovers Alternative Valentine’s Ball @The Tempest Inn, Kings Road, Brighton Seafront, Saturday 13th February 2016
Get ready for the Alternative Valentine’s Ball!
If you’re single, sick of the high restaurant prices, rubbish cards with kittens on them and over priced roses, too intelligent, or a couple who can’t be arsed with it all, then knock it on the head and come to REAL Valentine’s Party! The English Disco Lovers have been rocking Brighton Beach all 2015, and this is your 2016 wake-up call: all Discerning Disco Lovers, down to the new Tempest Inn on the Seafront for our new immersive, interactive Disco night, raising funds for Brighton Housing Trust’s First Base Day Centre.
Our awesome new interactive Disco Border Force will be in full effect: patrols will scan you down, and if you ain’t Disco enough, you’ll need to do a dance, a dare, get glittered up, or risk ejection!
Our stunning Glitter Crew will be ready to make your night beautiful for a donation to our cause; check the glitter station, and give a donation! We will also have our super cool merch stall, with all you need for a dope Valentine’s outfit. Our dance crew will be checking your moves and knocking your socks off, and we will have our Disco King and Queen in attendance!
Two (count’ em) TWO sound systems will be in effect on the night; upstairs will be rockin’ the big block party disco, funk and classic house tunes that you know and love, and downstairs we’re going slower and smoochier on a Valentine’s tip (but nothing too yukky!) as we do our own unique take on Valentine’s until the wee small hours.
TIckets are just £8 (+booking fee) in advance on Design My Night.com (LINK TO COME FROM YOU), Resident Records and direct from The Tempest Inn (no booking fee there!) All updated info on English Disco Lovers EDL Brighton Disco Vision
We are raising funds for Brighton Housing Trust’s First Base Day Centre which offers a range of much-needed front line services to support over a thousand people who are sleeping rough or insecurely housed in Brighton & Hove: full info here
Fantastic. And will I be donning my white flairs, a gold medallion and cultivating some chest hair (a bit late for that, I’m afraid) the answer is probably more boring and predictable, a bit like the press releases I tend to write.
