I recently wrote a piece regarding the need for advice services. In many parts of the country there are now ‘advice deserts’. Local Authorities, funders and even MP’s may think that ‘advice deserts’ are mythical things created by the advice services.
Today we have heard the very sad news that another law centre, South Manchester, which has been running as long as BHT’s advice services, has just closed, leaving just four centres covering the whole of the North West.
There now appear to be just 17 law centres left outside of London. The sands of time to protect law centres and advices services are running out. Advice services are, I believe, an endangered species that need protection and recognition before it’s too late and we , advice services, become a mythical being that existed in the past that fought for justice, saved homes, and saved lives.
